The documentary is a piece of my own history. My expectation of the film was a deep, disturbing piece which I will lay in a ditch of despair and harm. My grave thought was dug out and placed on a gratitude standpoint.
I was able to learn about the politics, the citizens of Vietnam, major events, and the overall feel of the Vietnam War. I have further questions about my own history and how I can relate to others who experienced the war aftermath.
I knew that my documentary films viewing will play a major, prominent role for life changes. This film is a crucial point to which I made this encounter. Otherwise, it might took me another ten or twenty years to view.
I found my life to be part of luck. The film discussed the effects of the Agent Orange. My question lies where my family was located and considered safe.
If my mother traveled to another part of the country, how she would become affected and I would have birth defects. This is part of my history to which I feel protected and saved either walking in an alleyway or traveling in a strange land. I will ask questions with gratitude again.
Then one day, my own body will travel back in time as I step onto the Indochina's soil.

The Great American Cowboy
The storyline and angles of the rodeo sport are greatly explained and shown through the narration and cinematography. After viewing this documentary, it adds reasoning for making my own film.
I never seen a rodeo in my life. My attention was consistent and gravitated to the subject matter. During the viewing, I even searched for the next rodeo event.
I purely enjoyed the film. I loved the agony and true dedication of the rodeo riders for the love of the sport regardless of injury and risk of being killed. The curiosity of seeing the bulls, horses, riders, and the time clock have bucked me out of my life and enter as an audience member of the sport. Next week, I have a time slot ready for some bull action.

Marjoe
My stomach went downhill with the film. The basis was too familiar when one cannot dive into the cult like religious experience. With a mocking hand, Marjoe also known as Mary and Joseph together preached from being a child prodigy to an evangelist.
The film documented the life of Marjoe with interviews and recorded evangelistic sermons with the audience. I am fully aware of the preaching through the strong community of the Pentecostal church in Southern California. The concrete foundation is based on money and show. The documentary perfectly demonstrated the strong engine of earning great money by the performance of a man.
I cannot explain in details on a profound thought. This would be a great study for films based on a pastor's preaching, the speaking in tongues, and miracle healings. The interviews with Marjoe made his character in a double sided imaging. It was seamless yet gave a strong message for hypocrisy.

The Hellstrom Chronicle
It took four times to completely view the contents. The film takes a powerful view of the insect world. I enjoyed learning about the survival and instincts of several insect species. Hellstrom was the narrator who described and compared insects with humans. He reflected how primitive insects survive and attack for food and defense. As humans, we have emotions and thoughts before we act. To the view of the film, insects have a certain power over us in terms of diseases and overpowering our Earth.
The film does a great portrayal of colony, evolution of insect survival, and relating insects to the dramatic plays of the human mind. I recommend this film.
